Jaime is one of my dearest friends, someone I can tell anything to. We chat weekly about kids, business and the events of our lives. She has made me a better photographer, mom and person. Her generous ways of volunteering weekly and her family’s continual devotion to bettering their community has inspired me since the day I met her.
So when I learned on a early morning in late October that her family was struck with a devastating event I was deeply saddened. You see her twenty-one year old brother had past away suddenly. A young man, filled with the same generous spirit, was taken from this world way too early.
His passing has sat on my mind for the past few weeks as a daily reminder to live life to it’s fullest, cherish those around you and tell your family and friends they are loved and appreciated. It gave me perspective that although my business, career and deadlines are important, there should also be more balance in my life. Sometime I need to just put down the camera/laptop and play a board game with my kids, take the babies for a walk and have dinner with my family. In the end bringing more balance to my life will make me a more whole person and ultimately a better photographer.
So today I think about Isaac and I encourage you to take time to enjoy this warm and beautiful weekend… go play in the leaves, go hug your kids, kiss your man, be thankful for the things you have versus the thing you don’t and take a look at the bigger picture.
Jaime and her family have found a way to triumph in the face of tragedy by creating a foundation is Isaac’s honor. I’ve Got Your Back has been created to continue his legacy of inspiring and impacting the youth of his community. Visit www.ivegotyourbacks.org for learn more.
